It is Energy Star certified with 115 volts of power and a 6 foot power cord. With digital controls, it has a programmable timer up to 24 hours. Humidity can be manually set between 35% and 85%. Or, the unit can be set to run continuously with no selected humidity level best pedestal sumps. There are two speeds for the fan operation.

There is a re-set button for the filter that lights up when the filter needs to be replaced and another light that signals when the filter needs to be cleaned. The filter slides out from the front bottom of the unit. When the water tank is full, the unit automatically shuts off its dehumidifier and sounds an alert beep for the water bucket to be emptied. The water bucket is located in the front of the unit and slides out easily. The bucket holds seventeen pints of water.

This portable dehumidifier comes with caster wheels and handles on the top and sides for moving from one room to another. It weighs 44 pounds, is 25 inches high, 17.75 inches wide and 15.17 inches deep.

The design of this Frigidaire dehumidifier offers versatility. It can be used in a living environment or basement. Used in the living environment, it can keep humidity levels low; reduce dust, mold, mildew and other allergens at lower costs than running an air conditioner for this purpose. In older homes with wood floors susceptible to termites the lower humidity levels produced by this product keep the moisture level in the house low. This reduces the likelihood of termite infestation.

This product offers two means for collecting and dispersing of the water removed from the environment: the water collection bucket and drainage with a water hose. Using the two gallon water collection bucket is most convenient for a living environment where a constant humidity level is easily maintained and does not require frequent emptying of the bucket.

For areas with higher and constant levels of humidity, a water hose can be attached for constant dehumidifying, collecting and drainage. In basements, where the dehumidifier is placed on the floor, a sump pump is needed to transport the water up from the basement. Another alternative is to place the unit on a shelf which is level with the ground outside. It needs to be secured on the shelf to prevent it from vibrating and rolling off onto the ground. The water hose drains out of an opening in the dehumidifier to a sump pump or other drainage system such as a French drain.

Eliminating moisture in your basement or crawl space can be an intense task, but can be achieved if the proper measures are taken to eliminate the source and the problem. Consider installing a sump pump system. This process is designed to reduce the water buildup entering into your basement or crawl space. But there is the risk of moisture developing and entering through hidden loopholes, as well as those unexpected accidents. This is why sealing off vents and doors, and using dehumidifiers and sump pumps are of great importance.

If your basement is filled with bad smells, your home has a hidden source of mold and mildew. A routine examination is in order. Mold and mildew can grow just about anywhere, between floor joists, underneath sub-flooring, and among any left behind or forgotten debris. The best and most effective way to rid your basement or crawl space of foul odors is to clean the space with disinfectants, perform routine inspections, and find the hidden source of moisture.

A vapor barrier is a very important aspect of waterproofing the crawl space and preventing moisture that could cause mold, mildew and dry rot. A vapor barrier is intended to reduce and eliminate large amounts of water from seeping into your basement or crawl space. This process helps eliminate your basement and above ground living levels, from being compromised with bad odors and foul smells. Unfortunately, the lower levels of your home tend to be prone to moisture, since moisture flows from warm locations to cold locations.
